The best beef stew in the world, ever!

Oil, a generous dash,
Onions, 2 large, diced,
Beef, cubed, 500g / 1lb,
Fry until nicely browned.

Wine, white, 2 large glasses,
Peppers, 2 bell, roughly sliced,
Mushrooms, punnet, halved,
Tomatoes, crushed, 1 tin, stir.

Mixed herbs, whatever to hand,
Salt and Pepper, to taste,
Golden Syrup, dessert spoonful,
Stock cube, 1, dissolved.

Potatoes, 12 small,
Simmer for at least 2 hours,
Stirring a few times until tender,
Serves 4 hungry adults.
